Happy summer, Kids Commuters! The Interlochen Public Radio Kids Commute Summer Listening Program starts June 18!
Here's how it works: each week, we'll post a special, extended Kids Commute episode on some of classical music's greatest hits here on our website. The posts can also be found on our free Kids Commute app - just search, "Interlochen Public Radio," in the App Store or on Google Play.
The special episodes are longer than our usual daily broadcasts - it's summertime, so you'll have a whole week to stretch out and take your time with each piece. At the end of each episode, we'll ask a Quizlet question. Send us the answer with your name and address in a text message to 231-237-7482, and we'll send you a prize! The prizes will change each week for all five weeks of the program.
If you complete all five weeks of the Kids Commute Summer Listening Program, we'll invite you to an ice cream social at the end of the summer, and give you tickets to see the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra in concert!
There's no need to sign up - just watch this space or our App starting Monday, June 18th to get started!
Here's what we'll be listening to this summer:
Week 1: Benjamin Britten - The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra
Week 2: Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky - 1812 Overture
Week 3: Ludwig van Beethoven - Symphony No. 5, first movement
Week 4: Gioacchino Rossini - William Tell Overture
Week 5: Aaron Copland - Rodeo
Join us for summer fun and fabulous music, starting June 18th!
