Interlochen Arts Academy Band Presents Collaborative Concert with Creative Writing Department

Feb 9, 2017

This Saturday, February 11, the Interlochen Arts Academy Band and the Creative Writing Department are collaborating in a unique exploration of the intersection between sounds, words and meaning. Among the concert's features are Olivia Elerson performing beat box flute solo; Nancy Stagnitta performing Charles Tomlinson' Griffes's "Poem"; a student-composed rap; and a guest hip-hop artist from Detroit, Sareem Poems, performing Tom Childs's world premiere composition, Beauty Ancient and New.

Matthew Schlomer, conductor of bands at Interlochen, stopped by the IPR Studio earlier this week to chat with Amanda Sewell about the upcoming collaborative performance.
