UPDATE 2/9/15: Governor Rick Snyder was released from the hospital this morning. The governor has been advised to curtail unnecessary travel and keep the weight off his injured leg. The governor does plan be at the state Capitol Wednesday to present his budget proposal to lawmakers.
Governor Rick Snyder’s public schedule has been cleared after he was suddenly admitted to a hospital in Ann Arbor with a blood clot in his leg.
It’s a lingering effect of an injury to his Achilles tendon. That injury has required him to keep his leg largely immobile for several weeks.
Snyder spokesman Dave Murray says the governor is keeping busy in the hospital.
“He is in the hospital receiving treatment, but he is very much alert, very much in control,” said Murray. “…He is working with his iPad. He’s working with his staff that are there. He’s working with his phone. He’s got a lot to do and he’s not letting up.”
It’s not known yet how long the governor will have to remain in the hospital. His public schedule has been cleared and surrogates such as Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley are taking over some visits, including a speech tomorrow at the Michigan Press Association annual conventjon.
But Murray says Snyder intends to be at the Capitol next Wednesday to present his budget proposal to state lawmakers.
