Interlochen Public Radio, the University Musical Society and the New York Philharmonic presented a  live program from Hill Auditorium on November 19th. It will be rebroadcast  on Classical IPR this Friday, December 8th at 8pm.

The program features commentary, interviews, and the performance of Don Quixote by Strauss and Bernstein's  Symphony No. 3 "Kaddish" conducted by Leonard Slatkin.

Along with the New York Philharmonic, performers include Speaker Jeremy Irons, Soprano Tamara Wilson, the UMS Choral Union, and the MSU Children's Choir.

Leelanee Sterrett was raised here in Northern Michigan and is now a member of the New York Philharmonic. She joined Nancy Deneen for Music at Midday, bringing along several of her favorite recordings and plenty of enthusiasm.

The New York Philharmonic performs live on Classical IPR on November 19th!

 

This University Musical Society concert will be held at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor with a special focus on Leonard Bernstein, born 100 years ago.

 

Earlier this month, the New York Philharmonic's outgoing music director Alan Gilbert said goodbye to his orchestra in a series of concerts. Today, he is saying hello to a brand new job in Hamburg, Germany.
