Kids can tell a pretty funny joke when given the chance – and they'll have a microphone and an audience this weekend in Traverse City.
Last year the State Theatre hosted a joke contest – just for kids – during the Traverse City Winter Comedy Arts Festival.
The comedy festival returns this weekend, and this year’s kids' joke contest is on Saturday at 2 pm.
Meg Weichman of the Traverse City Film Festival says it was her favorite event from last year's fest.
Kids can sign up for the contest at the door of the State Theatre on Saturday. Just look for the woman in a whoopee cushion costume, Meg Weichman, who is also the creative director for the Traverse City Film Festival.
Kids must be 14 or younger to participate.
CORRECTION: An earlier interview stated that Michael Moore would be a judge for the contest. He will not be a judge for the kids' joke contest.
Also, Meg Weichman will no longer be wearing a whoopee cushion costume at the event.
