You've undoubtedly heard the November Full Moon referred to as the "super moon", because it is the closest Full Moon to Earth in nearly 70 years. But what does that mean?
The Moon's orbit around the Earth is not a circle, it's an ellipse, which means the Moon-Earth distance is always changing.
The technical name for the Moon closest to Earth is "perigee Moon". A perigee Moon can be 50,000 km closer than an apogee Moon, which is the Moon furthest away from us.
It's important to bear in mind that every month, as the Moon orbits the Earth, it comes to perigee, but it's not always at full phase when it gets there. Nonetheless, every year one of the Full Moons will be closest, and it will be called the perigee Moon.
To find the story in this Moon, it helps to consider where it is in the sky. This particular perigee Moon will be in front of the stars of Taurus, where we find the star cluster of the Pleiades and the bull's eye star Aldebaran. In ancient wisdom, Taurus ruled the region of the larynx in the human being, and because of this it was always deeply connected with language and the human being's use of words.
