Kids Commute - Spring Week! Wednesday

Thunderstorms are on the horizon in today's music by Antonio Vivaldi. Interlochen Public Radio - classical music for kids!

Welcome to Day Three of SPRING WEEK on IPR's Kids Commute!

This week, we're celebrating the season with music by composers across the world.

Today (and for the rest of the week), we travel to Italy in the year 1725. Composer Antonio Vivaldi wrote a set of sonnets about the seasons, and music to go with them!

The Four Seasons: Spring (1st movement)
Antonio Vivaldi

Here's today's Kids Commute:

...and here's the text of Vivaldi's poem about Spring for the first movement:

Springtime is upon us.
The birds celebrate her return with festive song,
and murmuring streams are softly caressed by the breezes.
Thunderstorms, those heralds of Spring, roar, casting their dark mantle over heaven,
Then they die away to silence, and the birds take up their charming songs once more.
