Kids’ Commute French Horn Week: “To make true music, you have to feel it.”

Feb 27, 2015

It's French Horn week with Kaci Cummings, on Kids' Commute!

We’re wrapping up French Horn this week, with Kaci Cummings!

To help us learn more about the French Horn, we’re talking with Kaci Cummings, a student at Interlochen Arts Academy. Throughout the week, we’ll hear some of Kaci’s favorite music, why she loves the instrument, and why she thinks you too, should play the French Horn!

“The mechanical part is definitely just keys and you know, the airflow,” says Kaci. “But in order to make true music you have to feel it. You have to really emote through the keys and the air.”
Kaci says she would love to play her French Horn for a living. “Anything in the music world,” she says.

The last piece that Kaci has chosen for Kid’s Commute is Ein Heldenleben by Richard Strauss. “Ein Heldenleben” means “a heroic life”. Can you picture yourself playing the part of hero, in today’s piece?

Music piece for today:
