A Charlevoix man has pleaded guilty to dealing heroin in Petoskey. Anthony Wilhelm appeared in Petoskey circuit court on Tuesday.
Wilhelm’s alleged partner, Travis Gunderson, of Petoskey, pleaded guilty to other drug charges last month.
Petoskey police began investigating the pair following a series of nonfatal drug overdoses in the area.
“We’ve had these incidents in the community,” says Emmet County Prosecutor James Linderman. “People have been lucky they haven’t died.”
Linderman says investigators believe the two were bringing heroin and other drugs to northern Michigan from Grand Rapids.
“You have two individuals who were dealing in heroin and cocaine, as well as ketamine and marijuana,” Linderman says. “So you got quite a combination here that they were willing apparently to deal in.”
Gunderson will be sentenced January 23rd. Wilhelm’s sentencing date has not yet been set.
