This week, I want to draw your attention to an event showcasing the work of female artists in the Ludington area. Ladies' Night Out is a show featuring paintings, photographs and mixed-media work by 13 women artists in and around the Ludington area. Names include Yvonne Carlson, Shirley Shillinger, Rebecca Fox and a new painter Emily Kunsky.

The show opens with a reception this Saturday at 3:00pm at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, and it runs through April 15th.

In conjunction with Ladies' Night Out, the Third Coast Film Society is showing a film titled Who Does She Think She Is?

The film was made by Pamela Tanner Boll, famous for having co-executive produced the Oscar-winning film Born into Brothels.

Boll describes Who Does She Think She Is? as her quest to "find some contemporary heroines to provoke and inspire us to demand more from our work, our creativity and our lives." It follows the lives of five women artists.
