A new album from mezzo soprano Cecilia Bartoli and cellist Sol Gabetta features the unique relationship between the voice and the cello in music from the Baroque period. Bartoli and Gabetta have been friends for years, and this is the first project they have collaborated on.
"Dolce Duello" features arias by Tomaso Albinoni, George Frederic Handel, Antonio Vivaldi and many other well known composers from the Baroque. There are also three world premiere recordings of arias from operas by Nicola Antonio Porpora and Antonio Caldara. The Cello Concerto no. 10 by Luigi Boccherini rounds out the album.
Bartoli and Gabetta are joined by Cappella Gabetta, led by violinst Andres Gabetta for this album. Click here for an interview with Bartoli and Gabetta about "Dolce Duello."
