Sony Classical has just released the Vienna Philharmonic's 2018 New Year's Concert. Riccardo Muti conducted this year's concert, his fifth time leading the New Year's Concert since 1993.
The two-disc set includes annual favorites from the New Year's Concerts, including Johann Strauss II's "The Blue Danube Waltz" and Johann Strauss I's "Radetzky" March. There are also some pieces that were performed for the first time during a New Year's Concert, such as Alfons Czibulka's "Stephanie-Gavotte" and Franz von Suppe's "Boccaccio" Overture.
