A young northern Michigan singer/songwriter duo just got a big nod from a Grammy-nominated blogger.
On his culture blog, "Dull Tool Dim Bulb," writer Jim Linderman says The Accidentals may very well be "the best unsigned band in America."
Lindermanraves: "I have every reason to believe The Accidentals will achieve the level of American greats. You would think me kidding if I named a few in the sphere I think of, but then I saw the 27-Grammy Award winning Alison Krauss perform at age 18 too, and as Levon Helm once said 'lightning can strike twice' after all. I have seen the Accidentals perform and felt those sparks, and if dear Levon were still here I would tell him. I am not exaggerating. The Accidentals could have owned Levon's barn stage easily, and I know that too."
The Accidentals, made up of recent Interlochen graduates Katie Larson and Savannah Buist, have already made a big name for themselves locally. They're popular around Northwest Lower Michigan, performing more than 500 live shows, selling CDs, even being nominated for Red Hot Best local band.
Now the young musicians are about to embark on their first Big Tour - hitting many spots in Michigan through before heading to the East Coast and parts of the Midwest. They'll be on tour from June through January, with only a little time off for the holidays.
Only time will tell if Linderman - and the steadily growing stable of fans of The Accidentals - are right, but whatever happens, we wish the band the best on their upcoming tour.
