No one fights to preserve a multiplex, but some people will risk everything to save a marquee. Through booms and busts, Delft Theatres Inc. - and its innovative gem, The Nordic - endured in Marquette Michigan for almost 100 years, even as the world changed endlessly around them. Local kid Bernie Rosendahl’s modern crusade to restore the historic arthouse to its former glory leads filmmakers to discover a hidden cinema empire in the Upper Peninsula.
Portraying the fascinating history of motion pictures through one iconic screen - and featuring dozens of real-life Marquette locations and characters - Marqueetown is the true story of chasing your dreams, redefining failure and success, and reembracing the enduring magic of cinema.

Do you want to learn how to help your hand tools last a lifetime? Join us for a laid-back gathering to file, sand, and maintain our collection of tools. We use these tools each year to build and maintain our many miles of trails and remove harmful invasive species. Come join us for a workday to learn how to care for hand tools and help lengthen the life of the Conservancy’s tool cache!
The Basics:
Our team will teach you everything you need to know about tool use, maintenance, and safety. No prior experience is necessary! This event will involve all aspects of tool maintenance, including using hand files to sharpen tool heads, removing rust from metal parts, and applying linseed oil to wooden handles to prevent splintering. This will be a moderately light activity taking place in our workshop, with bathrooms and drinking water available on site.
The Conservancy follows state, federal and CDC guidelines for COVID-19 and may modify or cancel this event at any time. Do not participate in any activity if you were recently exposed (within 10 days) to someone with COVID-19 or have recently (within 10 days) been diagnosed with COVID-19.
