The Manitou Winds presents its annual “Winter Songs & Carols” concert on Friday, December 8, 7:30 p.m. at the Leelanau School, 1 Old Homestead Road, Glen Arbor. This performance is sponsored by the Glen Arbor Art Association’s [GAAA] Manitou Music Festival. The concert is free. Reservations are not required. A goodwill offering will be taken, proceeds from which will be directed to the Leelanau School arts program and future Manitou Winds recording projects. This year’s program features songs of Advent, Winter Solstice, and Christmas intertwined with readings of poetry and prose. Manitou Winds is comprised of five musicians playing 12 different instruments to create a collage of music textures and styles. Joining the Manitou Winds are guest vocalists Christy Burich and Emily Curtin Culler. More than a concert filled with holiday- themed music, “Winter Songs & Carols” explores a holiday season enriched by many traditions.
