Spring arrives in full flower when Center Gallery in Glen Arbor opens its 2017 season with “The Flower Show,” May 26. This three-person exhibit showcases two different approaches to floral paintings by Grand Rapids resident Margo Burian and Lauren Everett Finn of Honor; and the porcelain pottery of Matt McGovern of Cedar. An artist’s reception is May 26, 6 - 8 p.m. at the gallery, 6023 S. Lake St. Working in oil paint, Burian looks at and sketches flowers both in and out-of-doors, then returns to the subject in winter as a reminder of the season ahead. Finn brings to “The Flower Show” work from her 100 Bouquets series, a self-assigned project to depict flowers —both real and imaginary — in acrylic paint, oil stick, pencil and a range of other media. McGovern will show porcelain flower baskets and vases finished in his signature soda kiln-fired glazes. “The Flower Show” continues through June 29. The gallery is open Thursday through Monday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. through mid-June, then seven days weekly through September.
